After brainstorming ideas of how Student Council could reach out to others, it was decided that our school would write letters to our troops.  We are proud to say that 270 letters were mailed to our military men and women in Afghanistan in hopes of bringing some joy to them over the holidays.  In addition, we had the opportunity to take part in the Make-A-Wish Foundation where again we mailed off 270 letters raising $540.00 towards wishes for children fighting catastrohic illnesses.  Way to go BV Student Council! 

This year Student Council decided to run a food drive to help the homeless in our community.  Students decorated boxes for each classroom and the office, spoke with each class about the project and its importance, managed all the incoming food items, and loaded the food into the van.  We are pleased to report that Buena Vista was able to fill the entire bed of the van - way to go BV!  Thank you to each family who so generously gave to this project. 

Congratulations to Hector Azpeteitia and Julia Moreno-Christianson for representing Buena Vista at this year's Red Ribbon Week Proclamation Celebration at Carlsbad City Hall.  These students were chosen by their teachers to represent Buena Vista because of their good citizenship.  Way to go!
